We could say we farm differently

but we would rather show you

the bar oa way

WHAT EXACTLY IS

the BAR OA way?

Farm ideology is only as good as the dirt it grows in, let us show you how we get our hands dirty and put our money where our mouth is.

WE ARE (ALMOST) PLASTIC FREE

Plastic use in the flower industry is rampant and very often, unnecessary. Today, many alternatives are available to us and we are working diligently to removing plastic from as many parts of our process as possible.

WE ARE EVER EXPLORING

From winter-growing thousands of tulips in our Albertan basement to trialing peat-moss free seedling medium, we are always exploring ways to bring you more of what you love while leaving a smaller impact.

WE GIVE BACK

Community building is central to what we believe. We host workshops with the Whitemud Equine Learning Association Center and through them, and others like them, we can impact our community in a positive way.

I cannot rave enough about our flowers for the wedding day.

Small to us is a strength, not a weakness. It gives us the perfect platform to trail the dozens of unique flower varieties you have come to love and showcase our farming philosophy at a manageable scale.

We operate what some might consider a tiny flower farm on land near Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta.

Bryanna Kumpula -Yung

Bryanna, the co-founder of Bar OA Farms, has an extensive background in agriculture and floral design. Growing up on a mixed farm in Northern Alberta, Bryanna developed a passion for growing flowers and raising livestock.

After completing high school, Bryanna pursued her passion for agriculture by studying agricultural science at the University of Alberta, while studying floral design at night.

Bryanna's love for designing weddings using her own home-grown flowers is evident in the unique, heirloom, and hard-to-find flower varieties she grows on her farm. She is committed to sustainable farming and continuously explores new ways to utilize farm waste to create new products and reduce the farm's overall footprint.

Gary Yung

Gary, Bryanna's husband, is an integral part of the farm, providing the muscle and moral support needed to make it all happen. Despite not growing up on a farm, Gary has dedicated countless hours to learning the ins and outs of farm life, including how to grow and maintain healthy crops. He enjoys meeting new people and is always eager to share the farm's story with visitors.

Together, Bryanna and Gary make a dynamic team, committed to providing customers with unique, sustainably-grown flowers that you won't find in just any store. If you're looking for beautiful, one-of-a-kind blooms for your next event or just to brighten up your home, look no further than Bar OA Flower Farm.

Behind
the name.

The name "Bar OA" comes from Bryanna's grandfather, Arthur 'Buck' Pierce, who was a pioneer in sustainable farming. Buck raised Suffolk sheep and Hereford cattle in Northern Alberta and created the Bar OA brand, which was passed down to Bryanna's mother Colleen and then to Bryanna herself. Today, Bryanna and her husband Gary continue the legacy of sustainable farming at Bar OA Flower Farm, growing unique, heirloom flowers that are hard to find anywhere else.

Our original family brand, seen on the left, is what was used to identify Buck’s livestock. Today, we pay homage to him with a slightly modernized version which graces our brand & packaging.

You’re still here? That’s wonderful.

I'd love to personally invite you to our next workshop or dinner.
